
La Palma is an island in the Atlantic Ocean and is part of the autonomous Spanish community of the Canaries. The historical name for La Palma is San Miguel de La Palma. It belongs to the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the capital is Santa Cruz de La Palma. In 2002, UNESCO conferred the title of Biosphere Reserve on the entire island and after Lanzarote and El Hierro is the third one of the Canaries to receive this protection.
La Palma is outstanding for its landscape. It’s called La Isla Bonita (Beautiful Island) for its greenness, unique in the Canaries.
