What climate does the Canaries have?

In general, the islands enjoy moderate temperatures year round, with rain concentrated in the more mountainous northern slopes of the island. The variety of altitudes within such a small space gives rise to numerous microclimates on the islands.

What are the Alisios winds?

Geographically, the Canaries are affected by two barometrical areas: the influence of the easterly winds coming from the high pressure area of the Azores and the permanent warm flow that the dominant winds carry from the neighbouring Sahara Desert. Both influences have kept a permanent balance to give us this marvellous and unique climate, without too much variation and an average of 21°C.
