The Puerto Calera estate is a fabulous recreational port and one of the
most exclusive areas in Lanzarote.
The Golfo is one of the few examples of hydro-volcanism, an activity produced
near the coast. There is a small lagoon called “Charco de los Clicos”
inside the crater. Known as the Boilers (Hervideros), this is where waves crash
against the arms of magma which were formed as the lava flowed to the sea.
The resulting forms make the sea look as if it were boiling.
The Janubio Salt Flats (salinas) are one of the few in use today on
Lanzarote and continue to produce around 15,000 tons annually.
