The actual tourist areas of LANZAROTE are in three zones, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca. Each zone has a wide range of establishments and services oriented to satisfy the needs of the thousands of tourists who visit annually.
COSTA TEGUISECosta Teguise is located on the eastern side of Lanzarote, close to the capital and only 10 to 15 minutes by car from the airport. It offers all types of accommodations and activities. Costa Teguise is one of the most attractive tourist areas on Lanzarote thanks to its array of lodgings, beaches, services and the tranquillity one breathes around it. This is definitely one of the preferred destinations for families visiting the island.
One of the great appeals of Costa Teguise is its recreational facilities which run from a large variety of water activities to a golf course and water park. You’ll find several windsurfing schools along the Cucharas Beach and Jablillo Avenue.
PUERTO DEL CARMENPuerto del Carmen is located on the south-east side of Lanzarote and is among the most important tourist spots on the island. There are more than 6km of beaches protected from the trade winds (Grande Beach, Los Pocillos and Matagorda being the most extensive), and a wide variety of hotels.
Puerto del Carmen has a full range of services and numerous entertainment centres located along the expansive Las Playas Avenue: stores, shopping centres, restaurants and bars, recreational centres, pubs, discos and in general a vibrant nightlife.
PUERTO CALEROPuerto Calero is a recreational port on the island of Lanzarote, an oasis of peace and tranquillity in an area that is noted for its great natural beauty owing to its volcanic origins that all together will make your stay an unforgettable experience. Puerto Calero is also notable for the careful attention paid to its security and cleanliness.
Work on this, the first recreational port in Lanzarote, began in 1986 and some 15 years later, Puerto Calero had managed to place itself among the most modern and exclusive ports in all of Spain.
PLAYA BLANCAPlaya Blanca is situated on the south side of Lanzarote and through the years has become the third largest tourist area on the island. Awarded on various occasions for its beauty, this peaceful and pleasant spot is the ideal place for the whole family to relax in.
Playa Blanca has a wide range of hotels surrounded by a flourishing service sector: bars, restaurants, businesses… and one of the best recreational ports in Lanzarote. It is also close to the Papagayo Beaches where white sand and crystalline waters wash lap against the rocks.
TEGUISETeguise, the old capital of Lanzarote until 1852, has become one of the main tourist and cultural centres on the island. Its streets with their palaces, convents and squares stand witness to the passing of the centuries with their 1001 stories.
Teguise sits in the centre of the island, 10km from the coast and at some 220m above sea level. Skirmishes between Christians and Moors and pirate attacks, among other events, have played out in this regal village.
