To study a foreign language is much more than getting a good grasp on the grammar. It's about approaching the culture, feeling the language in all its aspects: how the Spanish live today, how they think, how they express themselves, how their history is, etc.
The study programme at the Instituto 'Palabras Vivas' includes visits to centres of cultural interest: César Manrique Foundation, Guanapay Castle, art exhibitions in Arrecife, Teguise, theatre, concerts in the Theatre at San Bartolomé, etc. This way, students not only practice the language with their classmates and teachers but also experience Spanish culture bringing them closer to its history, music, art.
Our programmes are open to anyone 18 years old and over. As well, we offer a language course designed specifically for retirees, where they can learn how to handle themselves in everyday situations using Spanish: going to the doctor, the bank, hairdresser, learning recipes for Spanish and Canarian food, etc.
