This Championship is making more and more waves each year. In
2006 and with 4* it made a great impact in the news - local,
independent, national and international – due to the
quality of the surfers, the waves and the organisation. |
|
 |
 |
|
This quality earned us the ASP prize as the best
Championship in the history of the Canaries and best 2006
Championship on the WQS circuit. As well, thanks to
the opinion of the competitors, judges and ASP personnel, we
are grateful for the opportunity to hold the 6* Prime
for the first time in the Canaries. |

The arrival of the WQS circuit’s 6*Prime Championship
this year in Spain, and in fact, the Canaries, will result in a
sporting event of world class standing.
With prizes valued at $125,000 we expect to attract the presence
of well-known WCT competitors.
Without doubt, this will be the most widely covered Championship
held to date on our coasts, and we hope, one of the
greatest successes.

The prize in Lanzarote gets this way as one of the most
important of the european calendary.
This year we will strengthen the ties between the Championship
and programmes dealing with leisure and culture, uniting sports
with music, ecology, sport fashion
and other events.
These parallel activities will promote values and activism for
environmental sustainability at the event sites,
La Caleta de Famara and San Juan beach. |
|
Aside from the registered participants, the ASP has requested
20 places for competitors from the WCT who will compete at this
year’s LaSantaPro, guaranteeing to raise the level of competition
ever to be held in the Canary Islands to date.

There will also be changes to the Final
Concert of the Championship. Starting this
year, La Santa Surf will actively participate in the
organisation of the concert together with the Lanzarote
Sports Council and the Teguise Town Council.
There will be more rock ("La
Pulquería", "Rockaina",
"La Gallina Verde",
"The Vibrants"..)
as well as electronic music
("Mendetz",
"Dj Surfer", "Dj
Soñadora"..) with the aim of
holding a great party that will grow in
size and international stature with each year reaching
the quality of the competition itself. |

More activities:
- SURFWEAR MARKET
During the week, there will be a sports apparel market where
various surf wear brands will exhibit and sell their products
from eight tents (5m x 5m) within the competition area.
These brands will also participate by dressing the entrants in
the first of the fashion shows for the LaSantaPro Girl contest.
- CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS
Starting this year, conferences/talks and workshops aimed
at children and teenagers will take place throughout the week
of the Championship. Aside from enjoying the surf, kids will
be able to attend a series of talks focussed on teaching them
aspects of sustainability that we have been put into action for
the Championship and will continue to strengthen in the coming
years. The talks and workshops will revolve around themes
such as renewable and alternative energy, recycling, surf,
marine biodiversity, etc.
- 2007 LASANTASURFPRO GIRL
This year will see the first LaSantaPro Girl contest offering cash
prizes for bathing suit and sportswear categories within a laid back
atmosphere. Various well-known fashion professionals from
Lanzarote and the mainland will help organise the event.
- PHOTO EXHIBITION
The Championship will hold a photo exhibit dealing with the evolution of
surfing in Lanzarote during the past 25 years. These photos
have been collected from fans and professionals in Lanzarote who have
been involved in surfing, many for their whole life.
