The legend goes that actor Omar Sharif (born 1932, Egypt) whilst filming "The Mysterious Island" in Lanzarote, fell in love with the house and bought it. Shortly afterwards, during a Bridge tournament, he gambled and lost it to the Nazaret Developer Sam Benady. This was in the 1970´s. He never returned.
It´s understandable to fall in love with a place like this, as each space accompanies the rock that sustains it, in this volcanic quarry where stone has been carved forming labyrinths and caves.
Current owners and Architects Dominik von Boettinger and Beatriz van Hoff have understood this language and thus continued the original concept of local Artist Jesús Soto († 2003), integrating the buildings to this stunning natural environment.
