HELP HAITI

20 January 2010 – 12:34

Haiti situation ‘still critical’.  The situation in the flood-ravaged Haitian city of Gonaives “remains critical”, the UN peacekeeping chief on the island has warned.  Around 150 more peacekeepers have been deployed to the city to stem looting.  More than 1,500 people across Haiti died in floods following tropical storm Jeanne, the government has said. Planeloads of food supplies have arrived at Port-au-Prince since the floods struck a week ago. But delivery has been delayed by security fears and water-logged roads.
