LSMF MEETS OKTOBERFEST

A 3 day festival raising money for AFA and the sporting clubs on the island in conjunction with the Ayuntamiento de Tías. Brought to you by the people already responsible for the Bomberos Foam party, Sumo Wrestling, Roller Disco plus last years FreezeMob and Art Festival.

This years event will consist of the 4th Lanzarote Summer Music Festival and the 2nd Oktoberfest as the 2011 Event Weekend of The Year.Held at Plaza de las Naciones in Los Pocillos, Puerto Del Carmen.

The Friday Night Live Music Concert will take place on the auditorium area on the lower level,

(as always), leading up to the main area which will host the Oktoberfest on the Saturday and Sunday.

There will be an Art Park,  Crazy Golf Tournament and Kids Zone throughout the three days on both lower levels either side of the Plaza. The Large Kids area will include bouncy castles, water slides, (make sure you bring your towels), water balls, sweet stand, face painting and other activities.

The 4th Lanzarote Summer Music Festival
To be held on Friday 30th of September from 16.00 to 1:30.

The best outdoor concert featuring the best local big bands and entertainment including special guests The Silk Rabbits, flying over from Germany. The Bars will be staffed and organised by Lanzarote Rugby Club and AFA, while the BBQ area will be run by the local Football Club and the Lanzarote Cricket Association. A Childrens area will be set up as well as the Kids qualifying rounds of the Crazy Golf which will be held over the afternoon for the finals on the Sunday.

The 2nd Lanzarote Oktoberfest

Saturday 1st October 10.00 til 23.00

Featuring the traditional opening ceremony of the Oktoberfest with a horsedrawn cart and the opening of the first beer barrel by the Mayor of Tías at 10.30 accompanied by the big band and typical Bavarian Polka music. Also including the Adults qualifying rounds of the Crazy Golf Tournament.

Sunday 2nd October 10.00 til 22.00

Starting off with the traditional Bavarian ‘Weißwurst’ Beer Brunch, (white sausage) and Polka music. Will also include the Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest competition. Prizes for best dressed, sexiest dressed and silliest dressed. This will also host the childrens and adult finals of the Crazy Golf Tournament.

Both days will feature a variety of performances in the main tent from 12.00 onwards with local

and guest musicians, traditional Schlager (folk) music, Polka, and plenty of popular music, also featuring the large municipal band from Tías.

The Plaza will host a large Bierkeller selling traditional German ‘White Beer’, a Bottle bar, a Cocktail & Jagermeister Bar, The Rugby Club and Tennis Club bar, a Theme bar and a Spanish wine, paella and tapas bar.

A wide variety of food will also be available consisting of a Traditional German Bratwurst grill, speciality Bavarian food, BBQ & hot dog / hamburger area ran by the Cricket society and La Tiñosa Football Club, traditional German cake tent, crepes and ice cream.

IV COSTA MUSIC FESTIVAL

The annual music festival is already here!! This music event is taking place in Playa Bastián (Costa Teguise) the 25th and the 26th of September.

Different groups and artists will play their best hits from 21:00pm till 4:00 O´clock in the morning. Zurych, Silvia Superstar, La Excepción, Mamba Beat, La Phaze, The Good Company, Mo Horizons, Kokolo, La Selva Sur and Cycle. Please, click here for more info.

LANZAROTE MUSIC FESTIVAL

At last, is here again!! The annual Charity concert for a good purpose, the 9th of October at Plaza de las Naciones in Puerto del Carmen. This year the benefit will go to the fire brigade of Tias.

The concert will begins from 15:00pm with the performance of Naughty Boys, Skatoons, Question, The Tareaways, Rory Gallagher, Skin & Hyde, Lorraine McLauchlan and The Soul diva Project etc FREE ENTRY!!

The Voluntary Fire Association of Tias “BOLUNTIS” was formed in March 2005 as a non profit making civil association serving the borough of Tias, ( in the province of Las Palmas, The Canary Islands, Spain), with one aim – that of protecting it’s community.

Our principal activity is to prevent and extinguish fires, regardless of the danger and to save lives and property. We count on a well trained team, capable in various other disciplines including; rescuing people and animals, disposing of toxic waste or dealing with escaping gases, rescuing people from wells or high buildings, traffic accidents, demolitions and working with other emergency services, i.e. police, ambulance, public protection..

As a voluntary organization, we rely on various forms of funding, be it from local enterprises, public donations or organizing and participating in fundraising events.

CARNIVAL 2009 PUERTO DEL CARMEN

GREEEEAAAATTTT Carnival is nearly here!!! I found out the dates for the Puerto del Carmen carnival 2009. This year from the 26th to the 28th of February, party, party, party!!! On the 26th it will start the whole festival, the “Murgas” those groups that normally take advantage of the funny party to criticize politicians and some decisions that they have made. Gala party of “Carnival Queen”, Gala party of “Drag Queen, etc…

The best date, at least for me, is the parade, which it will be on the 28th of February. This day, you can enjoy the best parade ever seen as there will be all the “Murgas”, ” Comparsas”, musicians, the Carnival Queen, and all the people dancing with their best fancy dresses on the middle of the street. This is surely worth to be seen.

NIGHT LIFE

There are over a hundred restaurants with food that suits every taste and every pocked from fast food to gourmet. There are many shops, boutiques and bazaars stocked with everything from duty free, electronics, to local arts and shoes or even jewellery.

The night in Puerto del Carmen has to be lived. You will find many places to go, from pubs, karaokes, bar or discoteques with different kind of music, english, spanish, salsa, merengue, etc. In Lanzarote, we could say that, Puerto del Carmen is the town that never spleeps!!!!
