Punta Mujeres

Punta Mujeres is a coastal town in the municipality of Haría. With a population of 1,000 people, it is one of the oldest towns in the area. It is famous for having more than 2 kilometers of natural pools, and each neighbor of this beautiful place can enjoy one of these pools in their neighborhood. The traditional white houses of Lanzarote are the signature of this town.

Where is Punta Mujeres?

This small municipality is located in the north of Lanzarote, near the extreme northwest of the island. It is linked to Arrieta by its promenade and very close to some tourist attractions, such as the famous Jameos del Agua and La Cueva de los Verdes.

What to visit in Punta Mujeres?

Natural pools

As we have already mentioned, Punta Mujeres is famous for its innumerable natural pools. The locals have covered many of them with stones, like a wall, to make it safer and not have to worry too much about the waves. One of the best known pools is in Punta de las Rosas, which is well protected from the waves.

Places of interest

The town of Punta Mujeres has a lot of charm, it is a perfect place to walk and contemplate its traditional houses. We recommend you go to see the sculpture of the “Molino Salinero“.
Due to its geographical location, Punta Mujeres is very close to some of Lanzarote’s tourist attractions.
The town is located on the southern edge of the Corona Volcano, considered a protected natural monument of Lanzarote. This impressive natural space has a 600-meter-high volcanic cone and the badlands (lava) that originated in its eruption and that has extended from its base to the coast. The volcano has easy access so you can climb it with a good pair of shoes.
Due to this eruption, incredible natural enclaves were formed such as the famous Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes. These natural wonders are located just 2 kilometers from Punta Mujeres. Shopping in Punta Mujeres

Although it is not a particularly large town, it has all the main services so that you don’t have to move out of the town. At the entrance to the town there is a supermarket where you can do your basic grocery shopping. There are also a couple of clothes shops and even a hairdresser.

Climate in Punta Mujeres

The average temperature in Punta Mujeres throughout the year is between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius. May through September are the best months to visit the area, as the weather is more stable at that time. However, from October onwards, the rains intensify, although they do not influence the temperature too much. 

Local fests in Punta Mujeres

During the first week of September the festivities in honour of the patron saint of Punta Mujeres, Nuestra Señora del Pino, take place. For a week, the streets are crowded with people taking part in all kinds of activities. Concerts, street markets, sporting events and gastronomic tastings are some of the activities that take place during this time.
