The Challenger Matches, are international matches of the International Grand Prix, integrated in the Association of Tennis Professional (A.T.P) and in the World Tennis Association and will always be supervised by International Judges.

For the first time in Lanzarote a Challenger match is equipped with 25,000 dollars in prizes + hospitality. This event has arrived after the successful culmination of the four previous ITF Futures matches that have taken place in the tracks of the Sport Center Fariones, in Puerto del Carmen, from 2002 to 2005.

A series of players have gone through these tournaments who have improved their positions in the ranking, some are already located in the Top-100. We possibly have the opportunity to see some of those players in the Challenger Isla de Lanzarote this year, a match that has improved obviously the prizes and that without a doubt will attract participants of greater quality.

A s a reminder, we will make a brief history of the celebrated ITF Matches in Lanzarote, a way that has been hard and long, but that has served to lay the the foundations of this new Challenger Match, thanks to the support of the public institutions such as, Cabildo Insular of Lanzarote, Ayuntamiento de Tias, Dirección General de Deportes, Dirección General de Ordenación y Promoción Turística, and private organizations, emphasizing without a doubt the Grupo Fariones, that has always stood behind matches of these characteristics.
