From April to September the North East trade winds blow regularly from 4 to 6 Bft while during the winter,
the wind is more changeable and can vary between 2 and 5 Bft, depending on the path taken by the depressions.

Las Cucharas offers not only nice conditions for professionals and wavefreaks, in the sheltered bay beginners
and less experienced sailors have a great time learning the first or next steps on the board.
Lanzarote has also an excellent tourist infrastructure with many facilities, for kids as well.
The beach of Las Cucharas in Costa Teguise is the best-known spot in Lanzarote. It is very popular as the trade winds blow side-shore, picking up in the afternoon.

This is the place where you can find the major windsurfing schools.
Jetties shelter the beach which makes it an ideal practice area for beginners, especially in the morning when the wind is lighter.
Flat water conditions in the bay can also seduce freestylers.
Once you get outside there is a shallow reef on the left where waves can easily reach 2 or 3 meters when a decent swell passes by.
Advanced and experts will enjoy wave riding in the middle of the reef or closer to the shore where waves
are breaking steep whereas less experienced windsurfers can still train next to the reef on flatter water. |
