El Grifo Wine Museum, is housed in ancient bodegas that date back to 1775 and were built on top of the solidified lava issued from the volcanic eruption of that century. A true example of local architecture, the cellar is marked by the simplicity of its constructing materials: extraordinary thick walls made of volcanic stones and plaster combined with ceilings supported by long wooden beams, mainly coming from ships derelicts.
The exemplary ethnographic collection dating from late XIX and early XX century gives the visitor an opportunity to observe the evolution of wine making equipment : ancient presses, apparatuses, bottling tools, pumps and filters, laboratory instruments as well as old alembics used to distil aqua-vitae.
Cesar Manrique´s monument to the mythological griffin placed on the road indicates the access to the museum.

Within the Museum you will find our sales room with a wide selection of wines and gifts. As well, El Grifo is pleased to offer wine tasting courses available year round to enable visitors to fully appreciate the characteristic body, flavour and colour of our local wines.
El Grifo Wine Museum is located on the homonymous vineyards, on the road from the monument Al Campesino towards Uga, next to the village of Masdache.
