La Geria Wine Tour Itinerary
Having picked you up at your hotel at 11 am, we make our way to La Geria – the area of Lanzarote to the south of the Timanfaya National Park and the Volcano National Park – one of the most important wine-growing regions in the Canaries.
On our wine tour of Lanzarote, we’ll visit three La Geria vineyards. Here we’ll get to know the process by which the wines are produced, as well as the cultivation of the source material: the grapes. Their principal characteristic is the holes made in the ground where the vines are planted giving the area a lunar appearance. These holes are protected too by a half-moon of stones, the characteristic symbol of the region.
We’ll start the tour by visiting the winery Los Bermejos, located in the municipality of San Bartolomé. Did you know that its name comes from the vermilion hue of the earth that covers the volcanic ash?
Then, we’ll go to the Rubicón winery, where we’ll walk among its vineyards and visit its 18th-century manor house. We’ll also learn about their outstanding wines, among which are the dry, semi-dry, and sweet Rubicon.
The last stop of this tour of vineyards and wineries will be El Grifo, the oldest winery on the Canary Islands. We’ll learn about the history of this winery, which began operating in 1775, and we’ll taste three of its delicious wines.
Once the tasting is over, we’ll return to your hotel, arriving at 3 pm.
