What makes Bodega Erupción unique compared to other wineries in Lanzarote?
Bodega Erupción is a family business dedicated to the production and marketing of ‘signature wines’ from their own vineyards, located in plantations with Lanzarote’s Denomination of Origin, each with its own characteristics.
Amor López is the first woman from Lanzarote to set up a winery on the island with a family winemaking tradition.
Can visitors witness the volcanic vinification process at Bodega Erupción?
One of the aims of Bodega Erupción is to promote and disseminate the culture of wine, as a reference in the wine sector of volcanic wines worldwide.
For this reason, it is possible to learn about the volcanic winemaking process up close through visits such as its Hiking Route, an experience that combines wine with nature. How does the volcanic soil of Lanzarote contribute to the flavour of the wines produced at Bodega Erupción?
The wines produced by Bodega Erupción are found in small plots or smallholdings in different layouts, both in large pits in La Geria and on the slopes of the volcano at different inclinations. The characteristics of these volcanic soils mean that the vines adapt to them, which gives them a perfectly balanced mineral flavour.
What grape varieties are typically grown and used in winemaking at Bodega Erupción?
Bodega Erupción’s main focus is on the most relevant single varietals in the area, due to their special uniqueness. Its wines are made from five different varieties of the Lanzarote Denomination of Origin: Malvasía Volcánica, Listán Negro, Diego Moscatel, Listán Blanco and Negramol.
The first bets of its premium range are:
- Milagro de Magmasía Colección is a white wine made from Malvasía Volcánica and aged for eleven months.
- Luz de Obsidiana is a red wine made from Listán Negra.
- Piroclastos Dulce is a Moscatel de Alejandría variety with ten years of ageing from a late harvest in 2012.
Bodega Erupción works with limited productions, as the wines are handcrafted, which guarantees a very high quality.
Is Bodega Erupción accessible for visitors with reduced mobility or disabilities?
Bodega Erupción is not adapted for visitors with reduced mobility or disabilities.
Are there any recommended local dishes or food pairings to accompany Bodega Erupción wines?
Amor López has selected the best clusters by hand in a careful harvest from the oldest vineyards in the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote. Because of their complexity, their wines require a very special and exhaustive treatment, which makes them the ideal accompaniment to a good meal.
For this reason, on your visits, he proposes a gastronomic experience with a pairing of local cheese and sponge cake, to enhance the characteristics and complexities of his exceptional wines.
