Best cycling routes on Lanzarote
Nowadays the island of Lanzarote has dozens of different routes to enjoy cycling, whether you are an amateur or a professional. In addition, there are more and more guides, tips, and information available to practice cycling while getting to know the beautiful corners of this magical Canary Island.
What’s more, whatever time of the year it is, it’s almost always a good time to take the bike to explore the island as Lanzarote’s trails are not too hilly and the island usually offers a mild climate all year round.
Cycling has become a booming activity on the island so there are different projects carried out to improve and promote the use of bicycles on the island. At present, thanks to the BTT Project, Lanzarote has more than 20 routes with an approximate extension of 385 km.

Costa Teguise-Costa Teguise
This is a circular route that starts in the coastal area of Costa Teguise from where it heads towards Tahiche and then on to Teseguite. Once there, it is time to head back to La Vega de San José, enjoy the views of Famara and reach Teguise again through its historic centre. Once past Tiagua and Tao, it is necessary to head towards Nazaret to return to Costa Teguise.

Campesino Monument
This circular route starts at the well-known Campesino Monument, the starting point from where you head towards the small area of Florida. After crossing the volcano area, you reach Tinguatón. Afterwards, it is time to head towards the small village of Tenaza and then go up through Tinajo and Mancha Blanca. Before finishing again at the Campesino Monument, you will pass through La Vegueta and Mozaga.

Puerto del Carmen
From Puerto del Carmen you should head towards Barranco del Quíquere to go up towards Mácher and cross the fertile plain to Uga. Once there, cross La Geria and it’s time to reach La Asomada, Tegoyo and Conil. It continues to the upper part of La Candelaria and then descends again towards Puerto del Carmen.

Playa Blanca
From Playa Blanca, head towards the coastal village of Playa Quemada through Los Ajaches. Once there, head towards the village of Uga to climb up to Las Casitas de Femés and then descend towards Yaiza and then on to Las Breñas. Finally, finish the route back in the tourist area of Playa Blanca.
