Mirador del Río
The Mirador del Rio is located at the northern end of the island on a steep cliff of volcanic rocks. It is just under 500 metres above sea level. This place offers what many consider to be the best sunrise in Lanzarote, since it offers a spectacular panoramic view of the island and the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park.
From the top of the Risco de Famara you can look out over the Atlantic Ocean and also enjoy one of the best views of La Graciosa. It is well worth getting up early for!
Timanfaya National Park
Timanfaya National Park is a must-see destination when you visit the island but it also provides you with the chance to see an unforgettable sunrise in Lanzarote. You will have to set your alarm clock but you won’t regret it!
In particular, we recommend that you witness the Cuervo Volcano. It has a unique lunar landscape that will leave you captivated. See how the sunlight appears and moves through the craters, creating incredible shadows. It is one of the most impressive natural spectacles in existence.

BookPlaya Grande
If you’re on holiday in or around Puerto del Carmen, you’ll have no problem enjoying the sunrise in Lanzarote. Just head to Playa Grande and find yourself a comfortable spot on the shore where you can sit and watch the spectacle.
It’s best to just enjoy the moment, but we understand that you’ll be tempted to take out your camera to capture the incredible play of colours between the sky and the sea. Our advice would be to forget taking photos and just live in the moment. You won’t be able to look away!
Punta Mujeres
Punta Mujeres is located in Haría. It is a coastal town located on the north coast of the island. Here you can also observe the sunrise in Lanzarote in spectacular style.
Watching the sunrise reflect in the waters of the natural pools here is a unique experience. It allows you to enjoy a beautiful and rare mixture of golden and silver tones.
The atmosphere in Punta Mujeres is very laid back so you can wander around the town at your leisure after watching the sunrise while the fishing boats bob in the waters of the harbour. And, if you fancy, you can go for a swim in the pools before eating seafood in one of the town’s restaurants.
You can also do things the other way round because in Punta Mujeres, as well as seeing the sunrise over Lanzarote, it’s also a good place to watch the sun go down at sunset.
Playa Quemada
Playa Quemada is a wonderful fishing village located in the southeast of the island. It is a very quiet place, surrounded by volcanic landscapes. Here, you can witness a spectacular Lanzarote sunrise.
The sun gradually illuminates the sky and tints it with warm tones and, at the same time, on the horizon of the Atlantic Ocean, the water shows the reflection of this play of colours.
Watching the sunrise in this location is one of the most pleasant and relaxing things you can do during your holiday on the island. Later on, you can visit one of Lanzarote’s most attractive villages, a seaside spot with black sand where time seems to stand still.
It won’t take you long before you have explored the whole of Playa Quemada. Then you can finish the morning with a swim at Playa de la Arena, where the contrast between the black sand and the blue of the ocean will remain etched in your memory.
