Would you like to find out more? Well, pack your bags and get on your way to this charming city, the capital and cultural hub of Lanzarote.

What to see at the Museum of the History of Arrecife

The Museum of the History of Arrecife was opened in 1972 to give an insight into Lanzarote’s past, showing items and collections that date back throughout the island’s history. It has a notable military exhibition, where you can see the items used to defend Lanzarote in the past.

San Gabriel Castle

The Museum of the History of Arrecife is found inside the old San Gabriel Castle, located on a little islet that can only be accessed via a picturesque bridge. This fortress is also commonly referred to as Castle Island.

The bridge between Arrecife and the Castle is known as Puente de las Bolas and is a declared as a Bien de Interés Cultural along with the castle itself, where you can find the museum. Both the bridge and castle create a picturesque scene that would not look out of place on a postcard or in a photograph.
