Since their introduction to the island, the free tours have focused their attentions on the old towns and urban hubs, as the attractions at these locations do not usually charge an admission fee. Lanzarote has several guides who offer tours of the island’s main attractions. 

One of the most popular free tours is of Arrecife, the island’s capital. Starting at the Avenida de la Marina, it takes in some iconic sites such as the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, the San Gabriel Castle, and the picturesque Rincón del Aguarecido, taking around two and a half hours. 

Another option is the tour of Teguise, taking in its historical heritage including the Santo Domingo Convent or the Palace of the  Marqués de Herrera y Rojas, one of the island’s most raided and looted spot during the times of pirates. The Spínola Palace and the church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe are the jewels in Teguise’s crown.
