Tinajo has a wide variety of experiences, from hiking trails into the heart of nature and tourist hotspots where you can find out more about the island’s history and culture. The Plaza de San Roque, in the heart of the town of Tinajo, is the focal point of the town’s main activities. It is surrounded by the townhall, bars, shops, and the San Roque church. In the town of Mancha Blanca you can also visit the Los Dolores Chapel, built in 1781 which also has a curious historical fact: it has a cross that points towards the direction in which the lava went to avoid the chapel. To end the day, there is no place better that the Guiguan Viewpoint, in the south of the municipality, on the way up to Mancha Blanca. By the viewpoint you’ll also see the Bodegas Guiguan, the perfect place to enjoy the sunset with a glass of the island’s wine

 

The best experiences in Tinajo

When thinking about the experiences in Tinajo, it is impossible not to mention it’s natural wonders. Caldera Blanca is undoubtedly one of those wonders that everybody wants to see here. The Los Volcanes Natural Park is home to this crater which is over 1,200 metres wide. To get there you just have to follow the perfectly signed footpath which is easy enough to get down. You can walk around the crater and head up to the highest point to enjoy the best views. 

Another volcanic trekking option is the Montaña Colorada Volcano, opposite the Cuervo Volcano. Just beside the road is a 6km path which will take you around Montaña Colorada through the red and volcanic landscape. The Cuervo Volcano is also another trekking option that is great for the whole family. 

If you prefer more water based activities the Quemao wave in the town of La Santa is the perfect surfing spot.
