More beautiful than any (Luis César Amadori, 1965)

Rocío Dúrcal rose to fame with the film Más bonita que ninguna, shot between Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

As part of the story, the protagonist traveled to the island to check the value of land in the iconic Montañas del Fuego, in the heart of Timanfaya National Park, which represent one of the great jewels of the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote.

In addition, other emblematic places also appear in the film such as the Charco de Clicos, a green lagoon that is located in the Natural Park of the Volcanoes, emerged in a crater of the eruptions of Timanfaya. A real visual spectacle!

Viaje al centro de la Tierra (Juan Piquer Simón, 1977)

The film adaptation of Journey to the Center of the Earth is a fantastic adventure that takes us directly to the Cave of the Greens, an underground volcanic labyrinth now converted into a tourist center of great interest.

The well-known film, inspired by the novel by Jules Verne, was partially shot in Lanzarote in the mid-70s.

The island was chosen for its impressive volcanic landscape, although there were also other enclaves such as the Gruta de las Maravillas de Aracena (Huelva) or the Caverns National Park of New Mexico (United States). And the main sets of the film were in Canada and Iceland.

Broken Embraces (Pedro Almodóvar, 2009)

El Charco de los Clicos reappeared on the big screen by Pedro Almodóvar, who chose Lanzarote for the filming of Los abrazos rotos, a film starring Penélope Cruz, Blanca Portillo and Lluís Homar.

One of the most recognizable scenes of this film takes place on the beach of El Golfo, one of the most visited by tourists. In fact, the director from La Mancha acknowledged that he chose the island because it was there that he found the inspiration to create the film. And this beach could not miss!

Clash of the Titans (Louis Leterrier, 2010)

Clash of the Titans is another fantastic film that lets us see some of the most attractive corners of the island of Lanzarote. Several of the scenes are shot in the Timanfaya National Park, one of the places you can not miss if you visit the island.

This protected natural area, located between the municipalities of Yaiza and Tinajo, is the result of several volcanic eruptions that occurred in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, which gave rise to a landscape that not only attracts tourists and adventurers but also international film directors.

Salir del ropero (Ángeles Reiné, 2019)

Salir del ropero was not only the last film by Verónica Forqué and Rosa María Sardá, it was also one of the most recent times in which cinema chose Lanzarote as its main stage.

Among the locations that appear in the film, we can highlight the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, in Arrecife, a nineteenth-century mansion that served as the headquarters of the first casino in the city.

Also the municipality of Haría, including the famous beach of La Garita, was part of this production. Lanzarote has some cinema landscapes!
