Dive in an underwater museum
Did you know that Lanzarote is home to the only underwater museum in Spain? The Museo Atlántico, in Playa Blanca, has more than 300 sculptures underwater, at a depth of between 12-15 metres!
You’ll have to dive to be able to enjoy it. It’s an activity suitable for beginners, although you’ll have to do the corresponding course beforehand. It’s a real eye-opener and will raise your social awareness of the humanitarian crisis of migration on our coasts.
Visit the Piracy Museum
What impact did piracy have on the Spanish Empire? This is what you will find out during your visit to the Piracy Museum. Inside you can see some of the sabres, blunderbusses and cannons that were used to defend Lanzarote from corsairs during different periods.
Since it is located at the top of the Guanapay mountain, in a 15th century fortress, you will also be able to enjoy a breathtaking view of the coast.
Visit José Saramago’s house
The Portuguese playwright José Saramago made his home in Lanzarote. You can visit where he lived and hear some of the most interesting anecdotes about the life of the Nobel Prize winner.
You will be impressed by his extensive library and you will learn about why the writer said that his home was ‘a house made of books’.
It is located in the town of Tías and has a garden and olive trees which gave him refuge, inspiration and peace.

Of the numerous things to do in Lanzarote, sea kayaking is one of the best. If you fancy a different kind of adventure, you can book an excursion and enjoy the calm, transparent waters of the island.
There are different options to choose from, but possibly the most unique route is the one that allows you to watch the sunset and see the full moon appear on the horizon. It’s very special!
