Live music festivals
The best kind of festivals you can find in Lanzarote have to do with the world of culture, more specifically, musical culture. There are different alternatives throughout the year, with different musical styles and in different locations on the island. These are the main ones:
Arrecife live
Rock, pop, indie, punk, soul, reggae and many other kinds of music groups get together each year at the Arrecife Live Festival. It has an itinerant format with different stages in emblematic places in the capital of Lanzarote such as the Charco de San Ginés or El Reducto Beach, among others.
Its tenth anniversary will be celebrated on several dates: 22, 23 and 29 September and 6 and 13 October, 2023.
Some of the artists who are going to be playing include Tote King, Lady Banana, Desakato, and Def Con Dos, among others.
Lanzarote Visual Music Festival
The Lanzarote Visual Music Festival is one of the most traditional on the island. Its origin dates back to 1989 and promotes all kinds of modern musical offerings with different artistic languages. But what makes it even more special is that it takes place in some of the most unique settings on the island such as the Jameos del Agua or the Cueva de los Verdes.
In 2023 it is celebrated in October on the following different dates: 11, 13, 15, 20 and 22.
Iván Vilella, Nico Hernández & Simone Marin, O-Janà & Michele Rabbia, Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou, Javier Infante & North Sea String Quartet and Eivind Aarset are the confirmed artists for this edition which will also include a parallel cinematographic programme with musical tributes to Max Richter and Ennio Morricone.
Sonidos Líquidos
One of the most anticipated annual musical events in Lanzarote is Sonidos Liquidos (Liquid Sounds), a festival involving nationally and internationally renowned bands.
The setting is unmatched: La Geria, surrounded by vineyards and volcanoes, is one of the largest scenic spectacles on the island.
The last edition of this event was successfully held between 10 and 11 June, 2023, featuring groups such as Dorian, Fuel Fandango or Tiburona in its line-up.
Malvasoul Love Fest
Taking advantage of the great influx of visitors to Lanzarote, the Malvasoul Love Fest has consolidated itself as one of the island’s great musical events.
In 2023, the carnival kicked off with a party in which Pauza, the Cuban DJ duo of Paula Fernandez and Zahira Sanchez, stood out. And in April, an immersive 360-degree experience in which music, fashion, dance and design came together at the Hotel Santa Catalina.
Food and wine festivals
The traditional Canarian gastronomy is another good reason to visit Lanzarote at any time of the year. Its wines also play a special role and tasting Lanzarote’s wines is one of the essential things to do when you visit the island. In fact, there is a food and wine festival that could be the perfect excuse for choosing when to visit Lanzarote on your holidays.
Saborea Lanzarote
Saborea Lanzarote (Taste Lanzarote) is a club that organises food and wine festivals with the aim of making the local products of the island known. The dates for this year were from 8 to 11 June. Its programme includes various events such as:
- The International Congress of Gastronomic Journalists.
- The Mid-Atlantic Gastronomic Conference (from 8 to 25 July).
- The Cheese and Goat Fair (Playa Blanca).
- The Lanzarote Wine Run & Traditional Cuisine Festival (Uga).
- The Tapa Saborea Lanzarote Fair (Puerto del Carmen).
