Carnival is a time of riotous fun and revelry and provides a wonderful excuse to escape from monotonous daily routine, ditch our everyday attire and have some incredible fun.

The carnival is defined as a public celebration that takes place immediately before the Christian Lent, with a date variable that can range from late January until early March depending on the year. This festival combines some elements that make it unmistakable, as costumes, parades and festivities on the street. It was also well known to some festivals of a similar nature at any stage of the year. Despite many of the big differences that presents its celebration throughout the world, a common characteristic is to be a period of permissiveness and some slippage.

FRIDAY JANUARY 25th
20:30h. Street Performances in Parque Islas Canarias, Arrecife.
SATURDAY JANUARY 26th
20:00h. The Third Age Grand Carnival Gala, Recinto Ferial, Arrecife.
SUNDAY JANUARY 27th
17:00h. Election of Child Queen of Carnival. Recinto Ferial, Arrecife.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2nd
21:30h. Carnival´s Queen Election Grand Gala. Recinto Ferial, Arrecife.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd
17:00h. Great Children Party with several shows and contest for the kids. Recinto Ferial, Arrecife.
21:30h. Drag Queen Election and 'Nancys Rubias' show. Recinto Ferial, Arrecife.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4th
17:00h. Grand Carnival Parade. Starting at the Ciudad Deportiva and ending at the Cabildo Zone.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5th
Shrove Tuesday.
20.00h: Batucada Show at the Recinto Ferial, Arrecife.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6th
18:00h. The "Entierro de La Sardina" ( The Burial of the Sardines) and fireworks.
