What is the Saborea Lanzarote festival and what is its main focus in terms of gastronomy?
Saborea Lanzarote is a festival held in Villa de Teguise. It showcases the rich gastronomy of the island and is the largest culinary event on the entire Canary Islands. With a wide range of different tastes on offer, you will experience the best of the island’s national cuisine all prepared by first class chefs.
When and where does the Saborea Lanzarote festival take place every year?
The 10th Saborea Lanzarote festival will be held at the island’s former capital, the Real Villa de Teguise on Saturday 23th and Sunday 24th of November 2024. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Spain and has been declared an Architectural-Historical-Artistic site.
The festival times are from 10:30 to 22:00 on Monday and 10:30 to 16:00 on Tuesday.

What are the main activities and events for visitors to enjoy during the festival?
Saborea Lanzarote is a festival that combines music concerts with a full culinary programme consisting of workshops, cookery demonstrations, tastings, samplings and presentations by the best chefs on the national and international scene. The exhibitions include:
- 10 wineries
- 4 cheese dairies
- 34 restaurants
- 32 producers and confectioners
- 9 gastronomy hotels
- 6 vegan gastronomy spaces
For two days, those attending Saborea Lanzarote will take part in the fantastic mix of gastronomic experiences which are held in as many as eight specific areas. And the whole thing can be enjoyed whilst listening to the rhythm of music by local and national artists!
Who are some of the leading chefs and culinary experts participating in the festival?
Among the chefs who will be offering their expertise in the kitchen are Jordi Cruz, Pepa Muñoz, Mario Sandoval and Fran Martínez, some of whom have been awarded Soles Repsols (culinary awards of excellence).
Chefs with extensive experience in Canarian gastronomy have a special role to play. Some of them include Víctor Valverde, Luis Benito and Gonzalo Calzadilla and they will all be promoting the island’s dishes and recipes.

Access and attendance to the festival is completely free, as well as all the presentations, tastings and any other activities programmed in the different venues.

Lanzarote’s cuisine will play a special role in Saborea Lanzarote, as will the island’s wines, which will be pivotal when it comes to the pairing of local dishes. There will be workshops on Lanzarote’s empanadillas (pasties) and cream puff pastry with fruit from the island.
And it will not just be Lanzarote’s produce that will be featured at the festival as Saborea Lanzarote will also give presentations, tastings and samplings of produce sourced in other parts of the Canary Islands, both from the sea and the land.
