This tiny island, situated to the north of Lanzarote, belongs to the Chinijo Archipelago together with Alegranza, Montaña Clara and the East and West Roques. The sea that separates it from Lanzarote is known as “El Rio”, the river.
Declared an Archipelago Marine Reserve since 1995, it is the largest both in the Canaries and the rest of Spain. La Graciosa covers 29 km² and has only two villages: La Caleta del Sebo, the capital, and Casas de Pedro Barba.
