A date with the elite of windsurfing in Lanzarote. Costa Teguise is home to one of the Freestyle stages of the PWA (Professional Windsurfing Association) circuit and La Playa de La Cucharas is the perfect place for this stage of the competition to take place.
The competition, one of the most anticipated of the PWA world calendar, is endorsed by the participation of more than a hundred athletes from throughout the world. In this stage, the canarian Ruano sisters are never missing, always competing to excel in whatever discipline in which they compete. The canarian fans also have the opportunity to follow the path of windsurfers such as Anchón Otaegui, Marcos Pérez or Frank Díaz. Others such as Ricardo Campello are always a good bet to be one of the stars of the atlantic waters of Costa Teguise.
Internationally, water sports stars such as Antoine Albeau, world champion in 2006 and winner of the Costa Brava stage, Kevin Pritchard, winner of the Ulsan stage, Bjorn Dunkerbeck and Micah Buzianis are also regular visitors. Amongst others who will be present are Cyril Moussilmani, Peter Volwater, Steve Allen, Jimmy Diaz and Finian Maynard.
The whole La Santa Surf team, collaborating: Consejería de Turismo del Gobierno de Canarias, Ayuntamiento de Teguise and Cabildo de Lanzarote are working hard to make that the participants only worry for the championship.
The difference to the others editions is that this one, they will only have to make the freestyle trial, in which we will be paying attention to Ricardo Campello, Gollito Estredo & from Lanzarote Antxon Otaegui. In the feminine part will have to follow very close among others Ibaya & Daida Ruano, Nayra Alonso and Sarah Quite.
Tv channels and very important producers like, Eurosport, T5 France and Canarian Television have confirmed their presence at the Las Cucharas beach in order to transmit the event. Also, photographers and journalist of specialists magazines of the world will assist to the great event in the Canary Islands.
PRICES
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday 28th at 21:00 hours in Las Cucharas Beach. After this, the event will finish with a big party in the beach with well known international DJs.
